What are GIS Solar Maps?
GIS Solar Maps are files with raster data of solar irradiance. They are being used in connection with geographic information systems (GIS). With the functionality of the GIS, the maps offer a wide range of applications. GIS Solar Maps can be viewed, explored, and incorporated into complex geographic analyses becoming a viable asset in solar project development. In combination with digital terrain information and intelligent selection criteria, the user has a powerful tool in the search for the best locations matching a multiple of requirements.
What software do I need to use GIS Solar Maps?
GIS Solar Maps do require a GIS software program for their use. Please consult GIS vendors for a software license. If you are working with ArcGIS of ESRI, your ArcView Desktop suite contains the ArcMap application fully compatible to work with GIS Solar Maps.
What services do I get with GIS Solar Maps?
GIS Solar Maps are provided as maps of direct normal (DNI) or global horizontal (GHI) irradiance - depending on the type of solar technology employed. The raster variable displayed in the map is the long-term annual average of solar irradiance in kWh / m². The raster resolution is 1 km². The region of interest can be specified by the customer in terms of coordinates or state and provincial boundaries. The maps are delivered in GIS readable format with a header file containing all necessary information to be fully GIS compatible. Importing solar maps into the GIS program is straightforward and easy and requires nothing more than a mouse click.
Are there additional services offered?
Customized maps such as monthly solar maps or "worst case" maps of minimum solar exposure during a 5 or 10 year period can be prepared on request.
How much do GIS Solar Maps cost?
The price depends on complexity, area size, and number of years used in the analysis. Please ask us for a quotation.
Which payment options are available?
We accept payment by wire transfer.
