How do Time Series Data help with solar plant simulation? A reliable estimate of electricity production from solar power plants requires knowledge of meteorological site conditions with a high degree of accuracy. However, pre-existing weather stations are rarely found at or near the site. Solar irradiance is not a standard meteorological variable recorded by all weather stations. Only some stations record global irradiance, and even fewer are equipped with instruments to measure direct irradiance. Despite of these difficulties, you are given access to site-specific irradiance data generated from satellite observations and available as global and direct irradiance (GHI and DNI). If desired, temperature records can be included as well which, in this case, are sourced from the nearest weather station.
